The Integrity of Lived Experience
In my time serving on the Historic Preservation Commission, the core challenge is always the same: how do we protect the soul of a structure while adapting it for the future? We’ve found that the same principle applies to Service Design and Advocacy. When we capture the "lived experience" of a youth in the foster system or a family facing housing insecurity, we aren't just recording a testimonial. We are preserving a human legacy. If that story is handled without structural care, its impact is lost in the bureaucracy of policy.
